Gaza | One Year of Unyielding Resistance to Bloodbath
An Appeal from the United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA)
"When Our Torment reached them, why then did they not humble themselves (and turn to Allah)..." (Noble Qur'an 6:42)
The 7th of October 2024 marks a grim milestone of one year of non-stop blood-letting, mayhem and the indiscriminate murder of thousands of Palestinians. It also commemorates unwavering resistance and tenacity of the mujahideen, in the face of overwhelming odds.
The United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) calls on the Muslim Ummah around the globe to mark this year-long tragic catastrophe by turning in earnest to Allah. Nabi had said: "Worshipping (Allah) at times of tribulation and confusion is like migrating to join me.” (Muslim) When the sheer magnitude of suffering drives us to turn to Allah and impels us to seek refuge in Him, it is as if we give up our birthplaces, our families, and our businesses, to migrate to Madina to join Nabi.
UUCSA accordingly calls on the Ummah to mark this tragic milestone by: Observing the Sunnah fast on Monday and Thursday (3rd and 7th Oct 2024); Reading the forty ahadith on the virtues of Baitul Muqaddas at a suitable time and place; Reading Ayatul Karima and thereafter making du'aa on Thursday night (3rd October); Dedicating the 4th October Friday Jumuah lecture to the carnage in Gaza. A prepared national bayaan on Gaza will be circulated which can be used as the basis for the Friday lecture; Tuning in to a national simulcast on Muslim Radio Stations on Sunday 6th Oct 2024. (Details to follow) Gaza should create an awareness of our own destiny, an appreciation for the many favours we enjoy, it must prevent us from extravagance, and it should induce us to connect with our Creator.
