United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) 31st Annual General Meeting – A Historic Milestone

As we anticipate the 31st UUCSA Annual General Meeting in Cape Town, we stand on the threshold of an important and inspiring milestone.

This year’s AGM goes beyond its administrative purpose — it marks a strategic and historic milestone for our national and global Islamic representation.

1. Hosting of the Global Imams and Scholars Council (GISC)
UUCSA will have the honour of hosting representatives of the Global Imams and Scholars Council where distinguished Ulama and scholars from across the world will meet. This gathering strengthens global scholarly cooperation and unity in addressing the pressing challenges facing the Ummah.

2. Signing of a Historic MOU with the National House of Traditional Leaders
This occasion represents a momentous step forward for Islam in South Africa — a partnership grounded in shared values of justice, morality, and nation-building. It also opens a new and promising window for meaningful engagement between Muslims and the indigenous communities of our beloved country.

3. Engagement with Muslim Members of Parliament
For the first time, UUCSA will host a formal engagement with Muslim Members of Parliament, providing a valuable platform for dialogue, collaboration, and shared vision between our Ulama and national leadership.

4. Involvement of Emerging Ulama Leadership
In recognition of the need for continuity and growth, selected young Ulama serving within UUCSA’s substructures have been invited to participate in this year’s proceedings.
This initiative reflects an investment in leadership development, mentorship, and capacity building for the future.

5. Meeting with the United Nations Special Rapporteur
Through the dedicated efforts of the MJC and its esteemed, a high-level meeting has been scheduled with the UN Special Rapporteur. This engagement highlights UUCSA’s ongoing commitment to advocacy, justice, and human rights on a global platform.

6. Strategic Engagements
Alongside the AGM, several strategic discussions and side meetings are planned with key stakeholders between Saturday, 25 October and Friday, 1 November, addressing both local and international matters of shared concern.

We humbly request the valued support and duas of South African Muslims towards the success of the numerous meetings and discussions scheduled.

In our quiet moments of reflection, let us increase in Dua, seeking from Allah Ta‘ala His Rahmah (mercy), Hidayah (guidance), and Qubuliyyah (acceptance).

May Allah grant us humility, sincerity, and unity in all our endeavours, and protect and preserve our mutual understanding and cooperation. Ameen.

Insha Allah
