Our Salvation Lies In Turning To Allah!
All praise is due to Allah and may His choicest salutations descend on our Master and Leader Mohamed (Sallalahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) “If Allah helps you, none can overcome you: If He forsakes you, who is there, after that, that can help you? in Allah, then, Let believers put their trust.” (3:160)
Muslims across the globe are grappling with critical challenges all because they say: ‘Our Rabb is Allah. ’ Kashmir, Rohingya, Yemen, Syria and Somalia are but some of the hotspots drenched with Muslim blood. Locally we are in a grip of unprecedented instability and lawlessness. Crime, looting and vandalism have become characteristic of strikes and demonstrations.
Qunoot Naazilah is a special dua recited during the fajr salaat in times hardships, difficulties and disasters. It is a collective response of Muslims to the suffering and plight of their brethren across the globe. Aamir ibn Maalik, the leader of the tribe of Bani Sulaym requested the help of Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) against the enemies of his tribe. Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) responded by sending seventy Sahaaba (radhiyallahu anhum) who were all experts in the recitation of the noble Qur’an. The tribe of Banu Sulaym however surrounded these Sahaaba (radhiyallahu anhum) at a place called Bir Ma’oona and murdered them. Jibraeel (alahis salaam) informed Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) of the incident and conveyed to him the heartfelt message of the Qurraa: ‘Inform our people that we met our Rabb. He was pleased with us and (in turn) we are pleased with Him.’ This incident caused enormous grief to Rasulullah. (Sallalahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) who recited Qunoot Naazila cursing the tribe of Bani Sulaym. (Bukhari)
The United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) calls upon all Imams to recite the Qunoot during the fajr salaat for the month of Muharram and encourage congregants to engage in istighfaar, the giving of charity and making fervent dua for our safety and the protection of the ummah.
