Meeting with SANBS
Less than 1% of South Africans are regular blood donors; yet according to the South African
National Blood Service (SANBS) an estimated eight out of ten people will need blood or some form of blood product during their lives. A single blood donation can equal three gifts of life, as nearly every blood donation is separated into red blood cells, plasma and platelets. UUCSA met with the SANBS to look at ways of creating greater awareness among Muslim communities and coordinating national blood donation days within the various provinces.
